Stjärnholm Manor has passed through many illustrious hands in its time. It was founded by Johan Silverstierna. The original farms were owned by Svante Sture and Hogenschild Bielke.
During the 17th century, the Drakenhielm and Lindhielm families took over, followed at the beginning of the 18th century by deBesche.
Court equerry Wästfeldt acquired the estate in the early 19th century, and after him royal Marshal de Geer, who fathered 14 children, among them Sweden’s first prime minister.
The d’Otrante family took over in the 19th century. Followed by a a number of different owners through to the 1900’s.
Diocesan house (stiftsgård)
The house was acquired as a diocesan centre in 1946, meaning that the Church of Sweden, the diocese of Strängnäs is responsible for the house and activities.
The house is open to all, private individuals and companies as well as church organisations. There are facilities for conferences, kick-offs, weddings and parties, family celebrations and weekend visits.
Sweden has a total of 19 diocesan centres, each with its own profile. The common denominator is a striving to offer individually tailored meeting places with added value. Stjärnholm is the only diocesan house which is also a 18th century Manor.
Stjärnholm Manor is owned and run by the Stjärnholm Foundation.
